Heating and cooling work across Herefordshire
Herefordshire is the most rural county we cover, and it is the one where the fuel matters most. Large parts of it have no mains gas at all, so heating here means oil, and sometimes LPG. That rules out a lot of heating firms straight away, because a Gas Safe registration on its own does not cover an oil-fired boiler.
We are OFTEC registered as well as Gas Safe, so an oil boiler service, a breakdown on a Worcester or Grant oil unit, or a full oil system replacement is ordinary work for us. If you have been told to find someone else because your boiler runs on oil, that is the qualification you were looking for.
The other thing about Herefordshire property is that a lot of it is old, solid-walled and hard to heat. Stone and timber-framed farmhouses lose heat faster than the boiler output alone would suggest, and the answer is usually not simply a bigger boiler. Zoning, sensible controls and getting the radiators right for each room tend to do more for both comfort and running cost. Because we are travelling further out here, planned work suits this county better than an emergency call, so if something is on its way out it is worth ringing before it fails completely rather than after.

Are you registered for oil, not just gas?
Yes. We are OFTEC registered as well as Gas Safe, which is what oil-fired heating requires. That covers servicing, repair and replacement of oil boilers.
We are off the mains gas grid. What are our options?
Oil is the most common answer in Herefordshire, and LPG is sometimes worth considering. Which makes more sense depends on the property, the tank position and how you use the heating. We will talk it through rather than push one option.
Our old farmhouse is expensive to heat. Is a bigger boiler the answer?
Usually not on its own. In a solid-walled property the gains tend to come from zoning, better controls and correctly sized radiators, so you are not heating rooms nobody is in. We would look at the whole system before recommending a bigger boiler.
